One Company, Two Video Sites
Google's high-price purchase of YouTube last year wasn't the search giant's first foray into the world of video sharing. Google Video was well established before YouTube became a part of the family, and it continues to be a popular online destination for video hosting and sharing.
While YouTube is geared toward building an active community of amateur video producers, Google Video offers higher-quality streaming video and fewer on-site distractions. That Google has chosen to maintain both sites goes to show that when it comes to online video sharing, users want options, and one size doesn't necessarily fit all.
