Ads on YouTube, Profits for Video Makers
YouTube announced Friday that it will soon begin placing ads near some of its videos, and share the revenue with the content creators, according to a story in the New York Times. This new revenue-sharing policy applies only to the most popular YouTube videos, so the site still is not the place to upload if you are looking to get paid for your work.
If you do want to trade your videos for cash, you're better off using a site like Revver, which pays all contributors for their work. However, it's still hard to beat the broad audience that you get when you upload videos to YouTube.

For non-home video stuff, you also may want to look at Jaman.com to distribute films and movies.
