Get Started With Digital Video Production

Thursday August 21, 2008

I know that we're well more than halfway through 2008, but September always seems more like the beginning of the year than January does. I'm sure it's linked into my memories of returning to school, but fall always seems to me like a time to buckle down to work and start a new venture.

If you're new to digital video production, this web site will help you get up to speed with the equipment and knowledge that you need. Compared to old-fashioned filmmaking, digital video production is relatively simple. However, there are some standard pieces of digital video production equipment that you'll need before you get started.

For the most basic digital video production setup you'll need a camcorder, a computer and editing software. Then, you'll need someway to show your finished video productions, either a high speed internet connection so you can upload videos to the web, or a dvd burner so you can put them to disk. Of course, once you get started with digital video production you'll probably want to delve deeper and get equipment like lights, microphones and backdrops that will take your digital video productions to the next level.
