New Resource List: Royalty Free Music

By , About.com Guide   August 4, 2009

Follow me on:

I often run into video clients who want a specific piece of music used in their project. Usually I have to disappoint them by explaining we can't use popular music without risking copyright violations. The disappointment doesn't last long, though, because I'm always able to find a royalty-free song that works as well, or better, than copyrighted music would. The stock music websites included in this list offer a wide variety of tracks at affordable prices. It's an essential resource for any independent video producer!

Hi Gretchen, there are more royalty free music sites in recent years focusing on niches rather than trying to do all markets and all genres.

For example, my own at Ambient Music Garden which focuses on licensing ambient music to therapists.

Another example is Background Music Library which focuses on licensing music for background use in business environments which is useful for hotels, restaurants and retail for example.

Hope this helps :-)

Best wishes
