Dragging and Dropping Effects

The other way to add effects from within the Effects Window is to select the effect tile you want and simply drag and drop it onto the clip you want to affect.

When an effect is applied to a clip, a little star will appear on the clip in the timeline, or, if you're in Storyboard View, in a small box in the lower left of the clip.

If a clip has multiple effects applied to it, a darker star will appear underneath the first one. This way it’s easy to tell what clips do and don’t have effects on them. If you're in Storyboard View, hovering the mouse over the stars will display a small text box that lists the effects on the clip.
