Adding Transitions in Storyboard View

To add a transition in Storyboard View, you can either drag and drop the tile for the transition you want into one of the slots between your clips, or you can right-click on it and select “Add to Storyboard.” The keyboard shortcut for this is Ctrl+D. The transition will automatically go to the first transition slot on the storyboard unless you highlight another one before right-clicking or pressing Ctrl+D.
