Exposure

By Gretchen Siegchrist, About.com

Definition: Exposure refers to the total amount of light allowed to enter the lens. Exposure is measured in exposure value (EV), with higher values denoting more light. Exposure time is controlled in a camera by shutter speed. Slower (longer) shutter speeds and greater (bigger) lens apertures produce greater exposures.
