Tags and Tagging

By , About.com Guide

Definition:

Most video sharing websites will ask you to enter tags for your videos. A tag is a keyword relating to your content that others can use to search for your video. For example, a video of you washing your unwilling dog might have the tags “dog,” “funny,” “bath,” “splash,” and so on.

Many video sharing websites allow you to add tags to other videos as well if you think the creator has left something out.

The more relevant your tags are, the more likely your video is to be found in a search. However, most websites don’t allow you to add irrelevant tags just to draw people to your video. So don’t tag you video as “sexy” if it isn’t.
