Video Blogging for Video Artists

By Gretchen Siegchrist, About.com

Who It's For:

If you’re serious about producing videos, having a vlog is a perfect way to showcase your work and expand your audience

Video Ideas:

If you’re a video artist you’ll most likely want to use your vlog to display your own recent video projects. If your videos are too long for easy web streaming, create 3-5 minute previews to entice viewers.

You can also spice up your vlog by adding the work of other video artists. Consider showing some of your favorite videos, or those that have inspired you.

The Benefits:

  • Self promotion: A vlog is an easy way for a video artist to connect with audiences. You can build up a fan base and gain recognition for your videos.

  • Money: Being a video artist is generally either an expensive hobby or a not-very-lucrative career. A vlog can help you make a little scratch by attracting clients and commissions or as a means for selling DVDs.

    Other Considerations:

When making your own videos—especially if you want to make money off of them—you’ll want to be sure you aren’t violating any copyrights.
