Introduction To Flixmaster:
With a seemingly unlimited amount of streaming video on the web, it's important to make your video stand out. Whether you're part of a business, nonprofit, or educational institution, an engaging video strategy can get people interested in your cause. Flixmaster is a new online video platform that lets you make dynamic, interactive videos with an easy-to-use editing interface.
You can try out Flixmaster for free, and once you've created an interactive video, you can share it anywhere on the web!
To get started with Flixmaster you'll need to make an account. Simply click 'Sign Up' and then provide a valid email address. Flixmaster will send you an email with login information to access the site. Next, you'll be directed to your new Flixmaster profile, which includes everything you need to get started from account info to analytics.
Make A New Project:
Now click on the 'Projects' tab along the left-hand side of the screen. You should see a button with a plus sign, labeled 'New Project'. Click this to get started. Flixmaster will direct you to the map editor, which has a simple drag-and-drop user interface, and lets you upload files as nodes and attach them to each other to create a sequence.
The Map Editor - Add Media:
Now you'll need to upload the media that will be the content of your video. Flixmaster accepts every video format, so there's no need to worry about codecs and file extensions. Click 'Add Media' and select your desired files. You can select multiple files to upload multiple videos at once. Flixmaster is a cloud-based video editor, which means all of the video content you upload will be stored in the Flixmaster database for easy access.
The Map Editor - Using Nodes:
You'll see an empty box in the middle of the editor - that's called a 'node'. Drag a video clip into the node in order to make it part of the project. You can add more nodes by clicking on 'Blank Node' at the top of the screen, and dragging it into the editing canvas. Once you have several video nodes on your canvas, you can create a sequence by clicking and dragging to attach them to each other. Flixmaster automatically rearranges your nodes so they reflect the sequence you chose.
Edit A Video Clip:
It's a good idea to have your video clip completely edited before you upload it to Flixmaster, although the site does allow you to carry out simple trim operations. To trim a clip, highlight it in the Project Media section, and click Edit. Now you can adjust the duration of your clip by adjusting the yellow sliders along the progress bar.
Adding Buttons, Text and External Links:
Once you've decided on the sequence and duration of your video clips, you can add buttons, text and external links to make your video interactive.
To add a button, click on the video node in the editor and click 'edit'. Now you should see a tab that says 'Add Button or Text...' in the pop-up window. When you click 'Add Button' Flixmaster will add a bar underneath the progress bar of your clip that allows you to adjust the duration of your button. Flixmaster also allows you to control the size, shape, and style of your button. To use the button to jump between two video clips, choose 'Instant Jump' or 'Delayed Jump' from the Button Behavior drop down menu. Then choose which video clip your button will link to by selecting a destination node under 'Button Destination'.
To add text to your Flixmaster video, simply double-click on a button and type away. Under 'Button Behavior' choose 'Non-clickable' and your button will be a non-interactive text element in your video. You'll use the same process to add an external link, but the text on the button should be in the following format: "ButtonText":http://YourExternalLink.
Publish And Share Your Project:
Once you're happy with your project, it's time to Publish! With your Flixmaster free trial you'll receive one free publishing credit, and the video can be played by viewers 200 times. You can share the video using Google, Twitter, Facebook, or put it on a website or blog using the embed code.
