LiveLeak is a free video sharing website that carries clips of everything from news stories to naked girls. Despite its entertainment and sexy videos, its primarily a news and journalism site its menu bar has special categories just for Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran.
LiveLeak also has a point system meant to motivate users to deliver positive contributions, where any kind of hate speech, propaganda or spam will lead to point subtraction or deletion.
Free
You retain the rights to your work, but LiveLeak can do what it wants with your content. You may not post content that is obscene, harmful, illegal, infringes copyright, etc.
However, LiveLeak does allow mature or adult content, provided you are of age.
LiveLeak asks for a username and password as well as your email address, country, gender and birth date. After you register you can log straight into your account.
The upload form allows you to select up to 20 files at a time; maximum file size is 50MB. You can add a title, description, tags and a category as well as indicate whether your clip is mature, contains graphic elements, and is public or private.
When I clicked Continue on the upload form I didnt get any indication at all that the video was uploading; however, after a while I was taken to a page that told me my video had been queued for approval, so if it seems like nothing is happening, be patient! (Remember that larger videos may take a long time.)
LiveLeak enables tagging.
LiveLeak videos may take up to an hour to be approved, and not all videos are approved for public posting. If your video is not approved it doesnt mean its been deleted, merely that the LiveLeak staff have decided not to add it to the public areas of the site, for any of a number of reasons. It is still viewable and you can share the provided link anywhere on the internet.
LiveLeak compresses its videos. Instead of having just one player for all types of video, however, the player may depend on your file format: an AVI or WMV will have a Windows Media Player viewer, a Quicktime file will have a Quicktime viewer, etc.
The video quality is high, though some videos may be slightly horizontally stretched.
To share a public video on Liveleak, you have four options, displayed to the right of the player: a URL with comments, a URL without comments, HTML source code for blogs, and generic HTML source code. Use the first two options to link to the page or copy and paste the HTML code to embed the player itself in another webpage.
If your video is not public, you will only be able to share the URL, and there will be no code for embedding the player.
