Overview of 12 Seconds:

12 Seconds takes short form online video to the extreme by limiting posts to, you guessed it, 12 seconds. Why 12 seconds? Well, as the 12seconds.tv site says, "The scientists here at the 12seconds dodecaplex have conducted countless hours of research to determine the precise amount of time it takes for boredom or apathy to set in during typical Internet video viewing. Our patent pending Electro-Tear-Duct Prongers have determined that exactly 12 seconds of video is the ideal amount of time to keep anything interesting."

This isn't the place for masterpieces, but for "status updates" a la Twitter or Facebook.

12 Seconds of Social Networking:

12 Seconds is well integrated with other social networking sites. You can even log in with your Facebook or Twitter account, which saves you the time of creating a unique registration. If you set the permissions, 12 Seconds will automatically update your status on those other sites when you upload a new video.

12 Seconds TV is also a social networking site in its own right. You can follow other 12 Second producers, gain followers for your own videos, pass videos on to other users and more.

Making 12 Second Videos:

12 Seconds is optimal for quick, off the cuff video takes. As such, the site supports direct recording from your web cam and mobile uploads. There's even an app for iPhone users who can't record video. With the 12 Seconds app you take 3 photos, record 12 seconds of audio, send it to 12seconds.tv, and they'll put together the video for you.

Wondering what happens if you upload something that's not 12 seconds? If it's shorter, it'll post. If it's longer, it's automatically trimmed to 12 seconds.

More 12 Seconds Features:

12 Seconds lets you download videos to your desktop, and it provides analytics to inform you about who's watching your videos. There's also a "Daily Challenge" that poses a question you can answer in a 12 second video for a daily prize, and the "12erator" that automatically generates prompts to inspire your 12 second videos.

12 Seconds of Desktop Video:
