Binkx Offers Social Video Search:

Blinkx is a video search engine, but it doesn't do a great job of searching for obscure videos. As a test, I searched for my name. Similar searches on Google and Bing brought up results from my YouTube channel as well as a whole bunch of About.com how-to videos I produced. None of these showed up on Blinkx.

However, if you're searching for something more popular, Blinkx isn't a bad place to look for it. You can preview results within the search page, but it's kind of annoying how the videos play automatically.

A big part of the Blinkx site is the "video wall" which shows all the search results on a grid type of screen, all playing at the same time. I guess it looks cool enough, but I don't really see the point; it doesn't do anything to make finding videos any easier.

I found browsing on Blinkx to be a much better experience than searching. When browsing TV shows for example, you'll get a show summary as well as a list of the seasons and episodes available.

Blinkx users can interact with each other and with the site. There's a section to comment on shows and videos, and users are asked to submit missing episodes to fill in any search gaps. You can also easily share what you're doing on Blinkx through connections with Facebook and Twitter.

The movie search results on Blinkx are questionable. Many of the movies I looked at led me to sites that require registration or payment.

Overall, I found the Blinkx video search experience quite disappointing.
