This tutorial will teach you the basics of using the Easy Setup tool to streamline the audio/video settings for your new FCP project.
Easy Setup in Final Cut Pro 7 is a tool that comprises four different controls: the Capture preset, Device preset, Sequence preset, and Audio/Video Playback settings. When you identify the shooting format of your camera and enter the values into Easy Setup, Final Cut will configure all four of these presets at once. This means that your camera will be recognized by the Log and Capture function, Final Cut will know how to capture your footage, your sequences will automatically accommodate that footage, and video playback will portray your footage accurately.Digital media comes in a variety of shapes and sizes these days, so Easy Setup could either greatly help or hinder your workflow. I recommend using Easy Setup if your project uses footage that was shot by one camera. This way, the settings will remain the same for the entirety of the editing process. If your project uses a variety of different cameras and video formats, I recommend skipping easy setup and adjusting the settings manually.
