Buzznet - Free Video Sharing On Buzznet

By Gretchen Siegchrist, About.com

Overview of Buzznet:

Buzznet is an online community, orginally meant for sharing photos, that now supports videos and blogging as well. Aimed primarily at people interested in music and pop culture, it's full of celebrity gossip, band blogs and more. It's also linked to MySpace, so if you're a MySpace user you can post your videos directly to your profile from Buzznet's upload page.

Cost of Buzznet:

Free

Terms of Service for Buzznet:

You must be at least 13 to use Buzznet. You keep the rights to work; however, Buzznet can do whatever it wants with your content until you remove it from the site. No content that is obscene, harmful, illegal, copyrighted, invasive of privacy, etc. is allowed.

Sign-up Procedure for Buzznet:

Buzznet asks for a username and password as well as your email, country, zip code, gender and birth date.

After signup, you can choose to add information about yourself. If you skip through it, you'll be taken to a page with an option to upload video.

Uploading to Buzznet:

Buzznet accepts videos in .mov, .mpg, .mpeg, .mp4, .avi, .3gp, .3g2, .wmv, and .flv formats. Videos cannot exceed 100MB. You choose a title, description, tags, and a privacy setting.

Unfortunately, there is no progress information at all, just an irritating spinning wheel. After upload you are taken straight to a viewer. It may show you your video in Quicktime or in Flash.

Tagging in Buzznet:

Buzznet enables tagging. You can have up to 10, separated by commas.

Compression in Buzznet:

Buzznet converts its videos to Flash, so you'll want to make sure your video is the highest possible quality before uploading it.

Viewability on Buzznet:

Buzznet videos don't look too bad. They may be slightly squashed as a result of the Flash conversion, but they load very quickly. However, there is an annoying Buzznet logo in the lower right of the screen.

Sharing with Buzznet:

To share a Buzznet video, you can either click on "Embed Code" at the bottom of the player to view HTML code you can copy and paste to embed the player in another website, or click "Email" to send a message and a link to the video to your friends.
